Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth is a condition of excessive concentration of bacteria in the small intestine. It is a consequence of impairment or dysfunction of defensive mechanisms:
The clinical picture is diverse and includes bloating, cramps, abdominal pain and diarrhea. In conventional medicine, culture analysis of jejunal aspirate is performed. Non-invasive respiratory tests are also useful. The condition is treated with antibiotics given cyclically to prevent tolerance, sometimes followed by prokinetic drugs and basic nutrition plans.
In natural medicine, we use probiotics before we turn to antibiotics, and also employ herbal preparations and natural enzymes. Additionally, we perform BICOM bioresonance test and treatment. In almost all of the cases, patients are prescribed individualised diets.
